Bavarian State Minister of Science,
Research, and the Arts

Studying at a university in Bavaria is a great opportunity. It is with good reason that our Universities, Academies of Art and Universities of Applied Science enjoy an excellent reputation at home and abroad. At universities in Bavaria, students and researchers will find high standards, a broad spectrum of academic subjects and modern forms of organization. In order to sustain and strengthen this high level of quality, universities in Bavaria partake in an ongoing process of development. With the new Bavarian university law in effect, we are laying new foundations for a modern and forward-looking university landscape. The degree courses at our universities are being changed to Bachelor and Master degrees within the framework of the Bologna Process. Many classes are taught in a foreign language, generally English, and through partnerships with universities in other countries, they enable students to take joint degrees.

One of the main characteristics of our policy for universities in Bavaria is internationalization, the encouragement of dialogue, and the exchange of students, teachers, and researchers in addition to cultural sharing. Some 12 percent of those studying in Bavaria hail from other countries. It is in our interest to recruit qualified international students to take their degrees here, whether they then return home and keep in touch with Germany and Bavaria from there or stay with us as highly-qualified specialists.

These websites will give you some initial insights into the various aspects of our universities. They are intended as a short guide that will hopefully awaken your interest in “Studying in Bavaria.”
