The Universität der Bundeswehr Munich comprises two institutional spheres – a university and a university of applied sciences – with seven faculties and three departments offering a total of 13 courses of studies.
With its trimester system, efficient research environment, excellent teacher-to-student ratio – one professor to an average of 18 students – and the convenient location of its facilities, the Universität der Bundeswehr Munich campus in the immediate vicinity of Munich offers a prime example of a modern institution of higher learning. Since November 2005, the Universität der Bundeswehr Munich has been headed by Professor Merith Niehuss, making the university one of the very few in Germany to be headed by a woman.
