Degree Courses
The course options offered at the Universität der Bundeswehr Munich correspond to those of state universities in Germany. However, since the academic year is subdivided into trimesters rather than semesters, studies can be completed more quickly, allowing students to finish their university education within only three years and three months. The academic degrees conferred are recognized by the state as being equal to those awarded by state universities. Academic teaching is free of outside influence and is based on independent research. German applicants wishing to enrol for studies at the Universität der Bundeswehr Munich must commit to a military service period of 12 years and must have fulfilled the civilian education requirements for admission to a university or university of applied sciences. Via programs at the Foreign Office and the Ministry of Defense, the university is also open to international officer candidates. Further information is available from the German military attaché in your home country.
The Universität der Bundeswehr Munich also offers a number of exchange programs which make it possible to study in Munich for up to one year, an opportunity that is also open to civilian students. Additionally, students can apply to write their diploma thesis here or to complete an internship. Qualified candidates who find a professor to supervise their work may also pursue a doctorate – in English or in German.
