Degree Courses
At LMU Munich, interdisciplinarity and an international focus are considered of great importance. Alongside the newly established Bachelor and Master programs, our doctoral programs are of special interest to young academics. The LMU has the lead management of four Elite Graduate Programs established within the “Elite Network of Bavaria” and participates in an additional six. The elite graduate programs are taught mostly in English and are designed to qualify exceptionally talented students and junior academics from Germany and abroad. Designed in a similar fashion are three doctoral programs in linguistics, literature, and economics, offering doctoral students not only a clear structure, which can contribute tremendously to shortening the duration of studies, but also intensive academic supervision and the exchange of ideas with other young academics.
Medical students here enjoy the uniquely innovative MeCuMLMU – short for Medical Curriculum at LMU Munich. This comprehensive program responds to the modern challenges of training doctors by demanding a high level of professional and scientific training and psychosocial skills.
Quality assurance and modern management are of the utmost importance at LMU. Our most important capital is our gifted students and the talented women and men who teach passionately and knowledgably. LMU takes the training of young people very seriously. The core idea behind its guiding principle of “universitas” is imparting comprehensive knowledge to include social skills as well as a critical understanding of values and history. It also includes the legacy of the White Rose (die Weisse Rose), a group of students who rose up in protest against Hitler’s regime.
